Frequently asked Questions

Is MUHH the same as Healers University?
Yes. In the summer of 2007, Healers University, which offered enrollment locally and globally, expanded into The Midwest University of Holistic Health. This expansion and merger does not affect any of our current students or alumni, as all course credits, diplomas, degrees, and transcripts were retained. As a result of the merger, we now have one centralized address and a larger full time staff.

Is Midwest University of Holistic Health accredited?
Yes. MUHH is a fully integrated auxiliary of Reiki Rays Institute, which  is accredited by the American Association of Drugless Practitioners and the International Natural Healers Association. In addition, our University requires that all adjunct faculty be accredited by a professional accrediting agency as well as adhere to our strict code of ethics.

What are my career options upon graduation?
There are numerous options available to our graduates. The most common choices have been opening your own business, giving lectures, writing articles and books, volunteering, working with a chiropractor, acupuncturist or other established wellness facility, or private consulting work.  MUHH does not offer job placement assistance, nor can make guarantees about employment, as we are not established as a vocational facility.

What are the laws about opening a holistic or spiritual business?

Laws vary from state to state in regards to offering holistic services, especially in the advertising of claims and benefits of holistic practices. Most states recognize holistic healing as a branch of religious and spiritual freedom, and many of our courses teach how to perform these healing arts while aligning with Spirit. We advise all pursuing employment to contact your state's board of healing arts for further information. We would be honored to assist you in any way we can when you reach this level of achievement.

How long does it take to complete a program?
Our programs are completely self-paced and there are no formal completion time requirements for our programs. The average time of completion for a single degree or diploma program is approximately one year, but this depends solely on the individual.  Our mentors can help you create a workable schedule to keep you on target according to your specific goals.

Does MUHH offer financial aid?
No, because we are not state or federally funded, and choose to adhere to Spiritual Principles, no state or federal grants or loans are applicable at this time. In the past, some students have secured private funding through employers, credit unions, and personal loans. Payment plans are available to help students with their tuition. Student may be eligible for private loans through their personal bank or credit union.  However, we do our best to create payment plans that suit the needs of the student, so please ask us about creating a payment schedule that works with your finances.  We will be more than happy to help you in any way possible. We have never refused a student due to finances alone.

We can offer limited internship/apprenticeship opportunities for those who are or plan to be in the Lawrence, KS area. Please contact us for further information regarding our policies.

Are these courses available to overseas students?
Yes, the beauty of distance education enables us to offer our programs to anyone, regardless of their location.  Additional shipping and handling may apply to cover the cost of materials. it is possible that supplies, such as essential oils or herbs may not be accepted by customs for some countries. If this is the case for you, we will notify you in advance and assist you in making appropriate arrangements.

Can I enter at an advanced level if I already have a degree?
If you already hold a degree from another school and/or you believe you have fulfilled our requirements elsewhere, you may be eligible to enter at an advanced level. Be prepared to provide your mentor with transcripts/letters of recommendation for evaluation. It is not our goal to have students retake courses completed elsewhere. Tuition is waived on all exempted courses and there is no fee to apply for exemption.  You can exempt up to one half of the required courses for any degree or diploma. If you have completed more than one half of the required courses for a degree, electives may be substituted with permission.

Can I speak to an admissions advisor for more information?
You certainly can.  You may email us using the information which appears on our Contact Us page. Do keep in mind that we use a switchboard that serves as a contact center for several holistic and spiritual centers, so please do specify that you wish to speak to a representative of Midwest U.  Someone is available to take your call or answer your emails from 10-6 pm central time, every day except Wednesdays and national holidays.
